Traverse City Lip Dub is tomorrow

So the big day is almost here!  The Traverse City Lip Dub is tomorrow, July 17th.  This is a big, low-budget project that will tell the world how special TC is.  The  Traverse City Film Festival is teaming with Fish Soup Films for a lip dub that will be filmed on Front Street, at Clinch Park and at the Open Space.  Hundreds of people will be participating - it should be lots of fun for the performers and the spectators.

The inspiration was the Grand Rapids Lip Dub.

Daisy Jane is open on Front Street!

Wow, have things been happening fast!  We closed the Union Street location, just after Memorial Day weekend, in anticipation of the big move to Front Street.  It seems like we have been on a dead run, getting everything painted, cleaned, set-up and ready to go.  The doors were opened last week!   Daisy Jane's new  location at 203 E Front is turning out to be absolutely beautiful.  The old tin ceiling and the beautiful, original wood floor gives our store have such a warm, welcoming ambiance.  We have carried through the funky decor style we had at Union St., using the old doors and lots of antique doorknobs for display,  We have had such a wonderful response from everyone coming in.  I have been happy that former customers have been finding us - that's always a risk with a move.  They all love the space, the selection of clothing, jewelry and accessories.

KEEP CALM and CARRY ON

"Keep Calm and Carry On" was a poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of the Second World War, intended to raise the morale of the British public under the threat of impending invasion. It was little known and never used. Two-and-a-half million copies were printed, although the poster was distributed only in limited numbers. The designer of the poster is not known.

The poster was third in a series of three. The previous two posters from the series, "Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory" (800,000 printed) and "Freedom is in Peril" (400,000 printed) were issued and used across the country for motivational purposes, as the Ministry of Information assumed that the events of the first weeks of the war would demoralise the population. Another shot of spring

photo via creampuffs in venice
Thought this little frosting flower was a pretty look of spring to come.  If I was really ambitious I would try to make it myself.  I used to love to bake when I had time...not much time right now, but these look so cute and fun, maybe I will have to try to make some...

Sweaters from dog hair?

I love knits.  No matter what I do, I always go back to a love of fibers, beautiful yarns and needlework.  So, imagine the confused state I was in when I found this link to some pretty bizarre knits.  Not sure if it's creative or creepy or just very funny...I may have to start defining some limits. LOL.

Treehouse 28

A great line of clothing that we have been carrying is Treehouse 28.  It's a small company that is not heavily distributed in stores so it is fun to have it.  They use organic cotton/lycra fabrics.  Earthy colors and great styles.  We have all of these items in the store now, tops and dresses with a 3/4 sleeve, and skirt with a banded top (not drawstring).

Available with banded waist instead of gathered tie. - Treehouse 28 at daisy jane

Next project?

                                              Handknit patch blanket
I love these.  Such a fun knitting project.  You couldn't possibly get bored since you are always on to a new patch with a new pattern and color.  The UGLY dolls are really cute, too.
